Job Description

An Acute Care Dialysis RN provides specialized hemodialysis care to acutely ill hospitalized patients. Responsibilities include:

• Delivering safe and effective dialysis treatments across ICU, step-down, and medical-surgical units
• Collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
• Assessing patients and monitoring treatment responses
• Operating dialysis equipment
• Maintaining accurate documentation
• Educating patients and families

Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week with rotating overnight and weekend call requirements.

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis experience
• 2 or more years preferred
• Experience with the Tablo dialysis machine is a plus

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in Texas (Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Completion of specialty competency exams and core competencies with minimum passing scores
• Compliance with all health and safety requirements including:

  • MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza vaccinations or documented immunity
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA) and chest X-ray if applicable
  • Fit testing for respiratory protection
• Drug screening (12-panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
• Background checks and employment verifications as required
• Driver’s license or state ID (valid and matching address requirements)

Additional Requirements

• Completion of onboarding education and attestations specific to the healthcare system
• Annual updates for health screenings, competencies, and background checks
• Ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required
