Job Opportunity: RN Med Surg Telemetry (Travel)
Location: Waco, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
- Coordinate care across all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Execute physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
- Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Required Qualifications
Licenses & Certifications
- Current RN license valid in Texas (Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start).
- BLS (American Heart Association) certification.
- ACLS (American Heart Association) certification.
Experience
- Specialty: RN Telemetry I

Health & Safety Requirements

- Fit Test: Required annually (preferred prior to start).
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire.
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days prior to start.
- Varicella: Proof of immunity or two doses of vaccine (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
Background & Verification
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (updated annually or after break in service > 90 days).
- Employment Verification for past 7 years (updated annually or after break in service > 90 days).
- Education Verification within 90 days prior to start.
- Drug Screen: 12 panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be current and valid).
Additional Notes
- Resume/Profile submission required.
- At least two professional references required prior to first assignment.
- Various Ascension-specific checklists and attestations required for onboarding and ongoing compliance.
