Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN CVOR) - Travel Assignment
Location: Austin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in the CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) service line providing surgical interventions for routine and complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures.
- Cardiac procedures include coronary artery bypass, valve repair/replacement, aortic dissection, heart transplantation, ventricular assist device placement, impella or intra-aortic balloon pump placement, adult ECMO, and TAVR procedures.
- Thoracic cases include laparoscopic, robot-assisted, and open procedures.
- Vascular procedures include placement/revision of ESRD grafts/fistulas and endovascular procedures.
- The CVOR service line includes 4-6 ORs and an endovascular suite, capable of four concurrent cardiopulmonary bypass procedures.
- Schedule: 3 shifts, 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM on weekdays (based on department needs), plus call coverage after hours and weekends.
- Must function independently in a fast-paced surgical environment and be able to “hit the ground running.”
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of recent full-time experience as a CVOR circulator in a high-volume hospital setting with demonstrated proficiency in all cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures. Candidates with less experience or requiring extensive onboarding will not be considered.
- References: Verifiable references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed.
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA certified.
- Competency Exams and Training:
- Specialty exam demonstrating competency in CVOR specialty (minimum 80% passing score).
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics (minimum 80% passing score).
- Cerner test-out and other onboarding education requirements.
- Health and Safety Requirements:
- Immunizations: MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations), Varicella (two vaccines or immunity proof, no declinations), Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination, Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement), Tdap (valid 10 years, no declinations).
- TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (annual).
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Background Checks and Verifications:
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and other required screenings within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Employment and education verifications within 90 days prior to start.
- Other Requirements:
- Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment and updated annually.
- Driver’s license or state ID matching home state for compact license.
Prior Travel Experience
- Must have completed at least two prior travel assignments as a CVOR circulator with no training needed. Prior travel experience is required.
Summary
This is a travel RN position for an experienced CVOR circulator with a minimum of 3 years of recent experience in a high-volume hospital setting.
