Job Opportunity: Mammographer

Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)

Job Description

• Provide mammography imaging services, including operating equipment and performing mammography procedures.
• Prepare and position patients; select appropriate anatomic and technical parameters.
• Explain procedures and educate patients on the importance of regular mammography for preventive breast health.
• Develop and evaluate film quality (density, contrast, definition, distortion).
• Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
• Ensure timely submission of high-quality images and documentation.
• Monitor equipment functionality and report any malfunctions.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the department, including procedure rooms and storage areas.
• Work requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a potentially stressful environment.
• Use personal protective equipment following standard precautions.

Required Qualifications

• Licensure/Certification:

  • BLS Provider certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Radiologic Technologist credential specializing in Radiology from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) prior to hire.
  • Completion of a federally approved 40-hour mammography training course within 90 days of hire.
  • Completion of 25 supervised mammography studies to meet Texas Department of State Health Services requirements.
  • Radiologic Technologist credential in General Practice from the Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist Certification Program prior to hire.

• Preferred:

  • Radiologic Technologist credential specializing in Mammography from ARRT.
