Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Job Description
- Must have a Wisconsin respiratory therapist license prior to start date.
- Current critical care experience required, or experience within the last 12 months.
- Ability to manage a heavy workload.
- Travel experience required.
- May need to float onsite within skill set or to nearby sites within 40 miles if needed.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system preferred.
- Certifications required: PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) mandatory; NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) optional.
- Work schedule includes every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Wisconsin.
- Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Prior travel experience.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references required prior to submission.
- Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Driver’s license or state ID (must be current and match address on file).
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics, and specialty skills checklist.
- Health and immunization requirements including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (mask required if declined)
- Varicella immunity proof (two vaccines or serological evidence, no declinations accepted)
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Tuberculosis screening with 2-step PPD or IGRA and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 or 1870+ masks preferred)
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, and national sex offender registry.
- Education and employment verifications completed within 90 days of start.
- Specialty exam demonstrating competency in respiratory therapy completed prior to assignment and updated every 3 years.
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
Additional Notes
- Must be able to work flexible shifts including holidays and weekends.
- Floating to other nearby sites may be required based on staffing needs.
- This position requires strong critical care skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
