Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a high-volume Labor and Delivery/Perinatal setting.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery/Perinatal experience.
- Preferred experience: 3-5 years of Perinatal clinical experience in a high-volume delivery service.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
- Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine (optional; mask required if declined during flu season)
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; chest X-ray if positive.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start; required annually).
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
Credentialing and Onboarding Requirements
- Submission of current RN license and Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings.
- Completion of specialty competency exams and skills checklists with minimum passing scores.
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics.
- Completion of unit-specific checklists (optional for onboarding).
- Completion of onboarding education attestations and pre-hire modules.
- Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
- Driver’s license or state ID matching address requirements.
Additional Information
- Only two attempts allowed for specialty competency exams.
- Background checks and verifications must be updated annually or if there is a break in service longer than 90 days.
- All certifications must be current and from accepted organizations as specified.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs seeking a long-term assignment in a high-volume perinatal environment with comprehensive credentialing and compliance standards.
