RN Emergency Room - Wichita, Kansas
Job Details
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 1:00 PM – 1:30 AM
- Schedule: Every other weekend, no on-call required
- EHR System: Cerner OneChart
- Uniform: Blue scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kansas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Onboarding and Testing Requirements (Must be completed prior to or at start)
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out (passing score required)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score; updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% passing score; updated every 3 years)
- Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score; updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical specialty competency; updated annually)
- Ascension Onboarding Education Attestation (6-hour pre-hire training)
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip Pre-Hire Modules (required for clearance)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by provider; no declinations accepted
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season, mask required
- TB Screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within specified timeframes; if positive, negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required
- Fit Test: Required annually; preferred before start, can be completed onsite
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually
- 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start; updated annually; retesting required if break in service > 90 days

- Current driver’s license or state ID (must not be expired and address must match license requirements)
- License/certificate verification and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- Other professional verifications (criminal background check, EPLS, education, employment) completed prior to or at onboarding
Additional Notes
- Offer letter, assignment agreement, and extensions required for onboarding
- Background checks include Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others; updated annually or after breaks in service
- Badge photo required (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
- Optional unit-specific checklist may be uploaded by unit leader within one week of start
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room RNs comfortable with Cerner EHR and meeting comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
