Job Opportunity: RN CVICU
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Unit & Patient Population
- Unit Capacity: 42 beds total
- Medical/Surgical ICU: 28 beds
- Neuro ICU: 14 beds
- Patient Diagnoses Include:
- Abdominal Revascularization
- Pneumonia
- Acute Respiratory Failure (ARDS, Pulmonary Edema, Pulmonary Embolus)
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Sepsis, Septic Shock, SIRS
- Acute Renal Failure
- Multiple Organ System Failure
- Stroke, Intracranial Hemorrhage, Post Craniotomy
- Liver Failure
- Hypertension, Hypotension
- Pancreatitis
- Post Neuroradiology Interventional Procedures
- Patient Age Range: Adolescents through late adults (14 - 60+)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in Tennessee with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association required)
- Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated (assume experienced CVICU RN)

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Professional Credentials:
- Resume/Profile submission required
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG, National Sex Offender, and 7-year employment and residence history (updated annually or after >90-day break)
- Employment and education verifications (education verification must be within 90 days of start)
- Signed assignment agreement required upon onboarding
- Certifications & Testing:
- BLS, ACLS (AHA)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- Cerner Test-Out and Training Checklist with signed attestation
- Skills Checklist for specialty, updated annually
- Health & Immunizations:
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine optional; if declined during flu season, mask required
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA testing with annual TB questionnaire; if positive, chest x-ray required within last year
- Fit Test for respiratory protection, preferably completed prior to start
- Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Identification:
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID matching address on file, front and back copies required
- Additional Onboarding:
- Color Vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
- Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters)
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding onsite
- Pre-hire modules including Nova StatStrip for non-allied positions
- Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and extensions
Summary
This is a 13-week long-term assignment for an experienced RN in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) with a typical 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio. The role requires comprehensive onboarding including multiple certifications, health screenings, and compliance verifications. The patient population is complex, spanning multiple critical diagnoses and age groups from adolescents to older adults. The shift is primarily overnight. Prior travel experience is not required.
