Description

Job Opportunity: Neuro Surgical Technologist

Location

  • Jacksonville, Florida

Employment Type

  • Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)

Schedule

  • Shift: 06:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • 40 hours per week
  • On-call requirement: 10-15 shifts per month
  • Weekend requirement: call shifts only
  • Holiday requirement: work any holiday that falls on a regularly scheduled shift

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • 4+ years of experience preferred

Required Qualifications

  • Surgical Technician with at least 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced knowledge of neuroanatomy and specialized surgical instrumentation
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as LITT systems, GammaTile implantation, stereotactic navigation, and DBS equipment
  • High-level anticipation skills during complex cranial cases
  • Strong team coordination skills to ensure patient safety during lengthy, high-risk procedures

Required Credentials and Documentation (must be current and verifiable)

  • Professional resume/profile
  • Signed assignment agreement prior to onboarding
  • License/certificate verification with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
  • Driver’s license or state ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements)
  • Two professional references completed prior to first assignment
  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 90 days of assignment start
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start
  • Core competencies completed within one year prior to start (HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% passing score
  • Surgical technologist onboarding education attestation completed prior to clearance
  • Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
  • Health and immunization documentation including:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
    • Varicella immunity (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
    • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be completed onsite)
    • 2-step PPD or IGRA testing for TB with annual TB questionnaire updates
    • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
  • Employment verification for the past seven years, updated annually
  • Skills checklist for specialty completed within one year prior to start and updated annually
  • Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and each extension

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for on-call and holiday work as specified.
  • High-level teamwork and communication skills are essential for patient safety in complex neurosurgical procedures.
  • No declinations accepted for certain immunizations and vaccines.
  • All required documentation must be current and compliant with specified timelines.

This position is ideal for experienced Certified Surgical Technologists with a strong background in neurosurgery and advanced instrumentation, seeking a long-term assignment with a demanding but rewarding schedule.
