Registered Nurse (RN) - Burn Unit
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: Every other weekend, no call required
Electronic Health Record (EHR) System: Cerner OneChart
Uniform: Blue scrubs
Job Description
- Provide specialized nursing care for burn patients.
- Must commit to holiday shifts for elevated pay rate.
Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Current RN license verified through Nursys within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Primary source license verification required within 30 days prior to start.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Experience
- Minimum years of experience in Burn specialty: Not explicitly stated (assume standard RN experience or as per agency requirements).

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
Professional Documentation
- Resume/Profile submission required.
- At least two professional references required prior to first assignment.

- Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documentation.
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding.
- Badge photo (forward-facing, white or blue background, no alterations).
Health and Safety
- Proof of immunizations and health screenings:
- Two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Two Varicella vaccines or serological evidence of immunity (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Influenza vaccine is optional; if declined during flu season, mask wearing is required.
- 2-step PPD or IGRA test for tuberculosis screening, with annual TB questionnaire. Positive TB requires chest X-ray within one year.
- Fit test for respiratory protection, preferred before start but can be completed onsite.
- Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
Competency and Skills
- Completion of Ascension Core Competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics with minimum 80% passing score.
- Ascension EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- Ascension Skills Checklist for clinical specialty, completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Cerner test-out and training checklist with signed attestation.
- Completion of pre-hire modules including Nova StatStrip training.
Additional Notes
- Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start.
- All documentation must be current and compliant with agency and facility policies.
- Driver’s license or state ID must be current, show front and back, and address must match licensing requirements.
