Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 06:45 AM – 07:15 PM
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a high-volume Labor and Delivery/Perinatal setting, specifically in Women's Emergency Department (OB Triage).
- Position requires competency in fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation.
Required Qualifications
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Texas.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients.
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
Other
- Valid Driver’s License.
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
Professional Documentation
- Resume/Profile submission required.
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment.
- Driver’s License or State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements).
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other relevant checks within 90 days of assignment start.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
- Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documentation.
Certifications & Testing
- Completion of specialty exam with minimum 80% passing score prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years.
- Core competencies training including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
- Skills checklist for specialty completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Cerner test-out and training checklist with signed attestation prior to assignment.
Health & Immunization
- Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Proof of two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or documented history (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
- 2-step PPD or IGRA testing with annual TB questionnaire; if positive, chest X-ray within one year required.
- Fit test for respiratory protection required prior to start or onsite.
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
Other Requirements
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding onsite.
- Pre-hire modules for non-allied positions completed prior to clearance.
Summary
This role is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with strong clinical skills in perinatal care, fetal monitoring, and neonatal resuscitation. Candidates must meet rigorous licensing, certification, and health requirements and be prepared for a long-term assignment in a busy OB triage environment.
