Job Opportunity: RN Behavioral Health

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on an inpatient adult behavioral health unit.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience, with psychiatric experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Completion of CPI/MOAB High Risk Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Valid Driver’s License

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
    • Two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or documented history (no declinations accepted).
    • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
    • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
    • 2-Step PPD or IGRA testing for tuberculosis with required follow-up documentation.
    • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite).
    • Annual health statement or physical exam confirming good health.
    • 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.

Onboarding and Compliance

  • Submission of professional resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment.
  • Completion of criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 90 days of start.
  • Completion of employment and education verifications relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
  • Completion of Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding and related pre-hire modules.
  • Submission of signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documents.
  • Submission of a forward-facing badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations).
  • Completion of Ascension Skills Checklist for specialty within one year of start and updated annually.
  • Completion of Ascension Color Vision test prior to start and updated every 3 years.

Additional Notes

  • Optional: Ascension Unit Specific Checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start.
  • Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized behavioral health setting with comprehensive onboarding and compliance requirements to ensure quality and safety.
