Job Opportunity: RN NICU
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Job Description
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal ICU (NICU) experience required.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio varies by patient acuity:
- ICU status: 1:1 or 1:2
- Stepdown/non-ICU: 1:3
Required Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
- Current RN license verified through Nursys within 30 days prior to start.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics).
Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in Neonatal ICU nursing.
Health & Compliance
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
- Varicella (two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine (optional; exemptions accepted with mask requirement during flu season)
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with annual TB questionnaire; if positive, chest X-ray within 1 year required
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start; can be completed onsite).
Background & Screening
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 90 days of assignment start.
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
- Professional references: at least two qualifying professional references prior to first assignment.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of specialty competency exams and core competencies with minimum passing scores prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years.
- Completion of unit-specific checklists and onboarding education attestations.
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- Valid driver's license or state ID matching address on file.
