Role Summary
- Registered Nurse in a step-down / progressive care / med-tele unit
- Provides care for medically complex patients needing close monitoring, frequent assessment, telemetry, and specialized interventions
- May float to other med/surg units
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Driver's License
Job Duties
- Perform comprehensive assessments
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and laboratory results
- Administer medications, including IV medications
- Manage telemetry, IV drips, central lines, PICC lines, oxygen therapy, high-flow oxygen, and CPAP/BiPAP as appropriate per unit policy
- Implement and evaluate individualized care plans
- Collaborate with physicians and other disciplines
- Educate patients and families
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the EMR
- Recognize deterioration and escalate care as needed
- Follow infection prevention, fall precautions, and patient safety standards
