Job Opportunity: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry
Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Responsible for self-studying telemetry strips upon acceptance.
- A basic dysrhythmia test will be given during the first week; passing is required to work on the telemetry/medical-surgical unit.
- Deliver nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Provide high-quality care to geriatric, medical/surgical, adult, and telemetry patient populations.
- Positions available on Medical Surgical Unit and Telemetry Unit.
- ACLS certification required.
- Estimated work week: 36 hours with possible overtime.
Required Credentials & Compliance
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required for onboarding (AHA or ARC accepted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required for onboarding
Licenses
- Professional license verification required prior to submission (Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start). For RNs, use BON & NURSYS.
Testing & Checklists
- Complete facility-specific skills checklist within 12 months (does not expire).
- Basic dysrhythmia test during first week of assignment (pass required).
Health & Immunizations
- Influenza vaccine or facility declination accepted (due annually by 12/01; season Sept 1 – March 31).
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination accepted.
- MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; 1 booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
- Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; 1 booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; 1 booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; declinations accepted.
- TB Test: Negative test within past year (TSPOT or QuantiFERON IGG). If history of positive TB, must provide documentation including chest x-ray and questionnaire within 30 days of start.
- Fit Test for approved respirators completed prior to start.
Background & Professional Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start (includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender).
- Adult and Child Abuse clearance per state requirements.
- Education verification through third party; diploma/transcripts may be required if verification is incomplete.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG screening within 30 days of start.
- Drug screen (10 panel) within 30 days of start; THC not required. Instant accepted if lab results pending.
- References: 2 professional references required for submission, including 1 supervisor reference.
- Resume or professional profile required for submission.
- I-9 attestation completed on agency letterhead required.
- Other facility-specific attestations and questionnaires required prior to onboarding (e.g., OSHA questionnaire, contract employee data sheet, pre-orientation CBL acknowledgement).
- Valid unexpired government-issued photo ID required.
