PET Technologist - McLeod Regional Medical Center, Little River, South Carolina

Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Maintain a professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in line with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
  • Perform technical procedures involving radionuclides for diagnosis and treatment of human disease.
  • Greet and properly identify patients, verify orders, complete patient history, assist with attire, position patients correctly, and explain procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture using aseptic technique and inject radiopharmaceuticals per protocol.
  • Select appropriate technical factors based on patient body habitus, pathology, and body parts.
  • Process images ensuring they are of interpretable quality.
  • Pursue continuing education and professionalism through programs and in-services.
  • Comply with all McLeod Health and PET CT department policies and procedures.
  • Deliver the highest quality of care and service to all patients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Credentials and Compliance

  • License/Certificate Verification: State-specific registry license or certificate required.
  • ARRT or NMTCB Certification: Required.
  • Driver's License/State ID: Valid and up to date.
  • Social Security Card: Required.
  • Immunizations and Health Requirements:
    • MMR: Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted).
    • Hepatitis B: Proof of 3 vaccinations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted).
    • Varicella: Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted).
    • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Required with specific timing guidelines.
    • Influenza Vaccine: Required September through April (medical/religious exemptions considered case-by-case).
  • Drug Screening: 10 panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (rapid drug screen not accepted).
  • Criminal Background Check: Comprehensive check including county, statewide, national search, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, NSOP, SS Trace, and education verification within 60 days of start.
  • Employment Verification: 5 years of employment history required.
  • Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually.
  • Other Health Requirements: Fit test, COVID-19 vaccine (optional), COVID test (optional), annual TB questionnaire (optional), annual negative PPD (optional), positive PPD with negative chest x-ray if applicable.
