Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist I, Inpatient

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel


Job Summary

  • Provide acute care physical therapy primarily within a rotating service model.
  • Work schedule: 8-hour days, Monday through Friday, with anticipated weekend work once per month (weekend worked results in a weekday off during the pay period). No holiday coverage expected.
  • Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance and adapting to disabilities.
  • Responsibilities include interpreting evaluations, setting treatment goals, administering manual exercises, instructing and assisting patients, and supervising PTAs per policy and state regulations.

Required Experience

  • Completion of internship or apprenticeship program required.
  • 1-2 years of physical therapy experience preferred.
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years (using the higher preferred value).
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license for Massachusetts (no conditional licenses accepted).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA preferred).
  • N95 fit test completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually (no onsite fit testing).
  • Documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity.
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (no exemptions).
  • TB screening within 3 months prior to start (skin test or blood test), updated if break >6 months. If positive TB test, chest x-ray documentation required.
  • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 1 year prior to start, updated if break >6 months.
  • Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender registry, and exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, Medicaid lists).
  • Documentation of education verification.
  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit test required.
  • Resume including 7 years of work experience with city and state.
  • Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher.
  • Skills checklist completed within 1 year.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and case management skills.
  • Ability to teach and supervise others effectively.

Contract Length

  • 24 weeks (interpreted from contract_length value).

Work Environment

  • Acute care inpatient setting.
  • Primarily Monday-Friday with occasional weekend coverage.
  • No holiday coverage required.
