Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist

Location: Charlestown, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide clinical respiratory care assessment and therapeutic procedures to critically ill patients. Participate actively in the patient care team by evaluating clinical data, initiating/modifying respiratory therapies, and making care plan recommendations to medical staff. Respond to respiratory emergencies and assist with patient transport as needed.

Essential Functions

• Perform respiratory tests and procedures as ordered.
• Respond to respiratory emergencies and transport mechanically ventilated patients.
• Prepare and update patient care plans; recommend therapies to physicians.
• Schedule and administer respiratory treatments.
• Manage all aspects of respiratory therapy per policies and procedures.
• Conduct bedside rounds and adjust treatments based on patient response.
• Educate students, physicians, staff, and patients/families; supervise respiratory therapy students clinically.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Massachusetts
• Respiratory Therapist with 0 years of experience
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy (mandatory)

Skills & Abilities

• Expertise in respiratory therapy with strong clinical judgment.
• Effective communication with patients and healthcare team members.
• Physical ability to walk distances and push equipment under 100 pounds.
• Ability to stand immobile for extended periods.

Additional Requirements

• Must provide documentation for immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or immunity proof.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) test within 3 months of start date.
  • Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 1 year.
  • Fit testing for N95 respirators within 1 year and annual updates.
• Background checks including criminal, CORI, SSN trace, sex offender registry, and exclusion lists required prior to start and updated as needed.
• Submission of a detailed resume with 7 years of work history and 2 professional references required.
• Completion of skills checklist and orientation documentation required.

Patient Care

This position requires direct patient care.
