Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Technologist

Location: Newton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)


Job Description

  • Perform ultrasound studies including Abdomen, OB/GYN, Pediatric, Basic Vascular, and small parts.
  • May perform interventional procedures.
  • Obtain two points of patient identification and relevant patient history.
  • Review patient charts for clinical history, test results, and lab data to aid accurate exam interpretation.
  • Explain exams to patients considering their physical and emotional needs while maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Deliver patient care within scope of license and training.
  • Use universal precautions and patient-specific safety techniques.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Rotate within department, divisions, and off-site clinics as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication and cooperation with all personnel.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, PACS, RIS, and reporting functions for each exam.
  • Prepare equipment, rooms, and supplies for patient exams; maintain stock and department areas.
  • Stay current on imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment; participate in continuing education.
  • Transport and transfer patients according to departmental guidelines.
  • Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure during exams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time clinical ultrasound experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Successful completion of ARDMS certification (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers).
