Description

Occupational Therapist I, Inpatient

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Monday to Friday, 8-hour day)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide acute care occupational therapy services to patients of all ages with physical, cognitive, developmental, or emotional challenges affecting their ability to perform everyday tasks. Work primarily with a designated team or service area.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments of patients' physical, mental, and developmental abilities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
  • Educate patients and families on therapeutic activities and home exercises.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, physical therapists) for comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and progress notes.
  • Participate in staff meetings and continuing education to stay current with best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in Massachusetts
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience completing an internship or apprenticeship program

Experience & Skills

  • Ability to work effectively with patients and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Additional Notes

  • No onsite fit testing; must be completed prior to start.
  • Background checks require disclosure of international travel or residence exceeding 30 consecutive days within the last 7 years.
  • Positive TB test requires documentation of a negative chest x-ray (optional but recommended).
  • Name change documentation required if legal name differs from credential documents.

This position requires direct patient care and active collaboration within an acute care inpatient setting.
