Job Opportunity: Stepdown RN PRN Days
Location: Kansas City, Kansas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Job Description
- Provide critical care stepdown nursing in a PRN (as-needed) capacity during day shifts.
- Specialty focus: Neuro Stepdown unit.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Completion of Workplace Violence Prevention training (DCI/BVP).
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
Candidates must complete and provide documentation for the following before starting:
Immunizations and Health Screenings
- COVID-19: 2 vaccines plus booster or completed declination.
- MMR: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer within last 5 years.
- Hepatitis B: Record of 3 immunizations, immune titer, or declination accepted.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required for the upcoming flu season or declination.
- Varicella: Vaccination or immunity titer within last 5 years.
- Tdap: Required; declinations not accepted in some regions.
- TB Test: Q-FERON within last year or 2 TB skin tests within last year.
- Physical/Health Statement: Annual clearance to work, completed within 60 days of start.
Professional Credentials and Background
- Valid Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport.
- National Criminal Background Check within one year of start date (with some state-specific timing exceptions).
- Employment eligibility verification (Form I-9 or agency attestation).
- Prime OIG and SAM/EPLS exclusion checks.
- Signed current job description (within the year).
Testing and Training
- Prime Core Competencies Exam: Minimum 80% score.
- Prime Specialty Exam: Minimum 80% score.
- Prime Skills Checklist completion.
- Workplace Violence Prevention training (DCI/BVP).
- Annual respirator fit test (3M 1860(s) mask or facility-approved alternative).
- Glucose meter online training and certificate (Nova Stat-Strip).
- Prime Color-blind test annually (Relias accepted).
Documentation and Attestations
- Up-to-date resume reflecting recent work history (required at offer acceptance).
- Two professional references, including at least one from a manager or direct supervisor.
- Prime Agency Attestation completed after all credentials are uploaded.
Additional Notes
- Some immunization declinations are not accepted in specific regions.
- Fit testing must be completed prior to start if not available onsite.
- Drug screening: Minimum 10-panel test including THC within 60 days of start; California locations require both urine and saliva testing components.
- Badge photo and name verification affidavit are optional but may be requested during onboarding.
This position is ideal for experienced Neuro Stepdown RNs seeking a PRN role with a defined contract length and comprehensive onboarding requirements.
