Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical / Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in medical, surgical, and telemetry settings.
• Work schedule follows every other week (EOH/EOW).

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of telemetry nursing experience.
• Telemetry experience must be within the last year.
• Oncology nursing experience.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Fit test completed prior to start.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (including methadone, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, PCP, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and others; THC not accepted).
• COVID-19 vaccination proof including booster by September 2025, or approved exemption/declination (declination not accepted in CA or IL).
• Proof of MMR vaccination (2 doses) or immunity via IgG titer.
• Hepatitis B vaccination series initiated prior to start.
• Influenza vaccine proof or declination (optional).
• Tuberculosis screening with 2-step PPD or IGRA test; if positive, chest X-ray within last year or 5 years depending on region.
• Varicella vaccination proof or immunity via IgG titer.
• Current Tdap vaccination or declination if no pediatric interaction.
• Physical exam within the last year confirming fitness to work.

Professional & Compliance Requirements

• Completion of background checks including federal, nationwide, and county criminal history (last 7 years), Social Security Number verification, and state-specific registries.
• Verification of highest academic education (degree or diploma/GED).
• Completion of various compliance forms including:

  • Code of Conduct
  • Confidentiality and Information Security Agreement
  • Conflict of Interest Disclosure
  • Integrity and Audit Services Form
  • Non-Employee Upload Form
  • Criminal History and Abuse Registry checks (Iowa-specific)
  • OFAC sanctions screening
• Completion of Joint Commission CORE exam within the last year.
• System access form completed and uploaded one week before start.
• Skills checklist provided and completed by agency prior to start.

Additional Notes

• All required documents and certifications must be uploaded to the credentialing system prior to onboarding.
• Specialty competency testing and skills checklist must be current (within one year).
