Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 06:30 AM – 07:00 PM (Day Shift)

Job Description

• Emergency Room nursing position requiring coverage every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH).
• Intended to cover a 6-month long-term assignment to support through the holiday period.

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience.
• Emergency Department experience within the last year.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Health & Safety Requirements

• Fit test for respiratory protection.
• 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (no THC).
• COVID-19 vaccination proof including booster by September 2025, or approved declination/exemption (declination not accepted in CA or IL).
• Proof of MMR vaccination (2 doses) or immunity titer.
• Hepatitis B vaccination series initiated prior to start.
• Influenza vaccine proof or declination (optional).
• 2-step PPD or IGRA TB test with chest x-ray if positive (per regional requirements).
• Varicella vaccination proof or immunity titer.
• Physical exam documentation within the last year confirming fitness to work.
• Current Tdap vaccine or declination if no pediatric interaction.

Professional & Compliance Requirements

• Signed Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Conflict of Interest Disclosure, Integrity and Audit Services Form, and Non-Employee Upload Form.
• Criminal background check (federal, nationwide, county) covering last 7 years, including SSN verification, dated within 30 days of start.
• Education verification of highest academic degree or diploma.
• Exclusion screenings including EPLS, OIG, NSO, and OFAC within 30 days of start.
• Specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklist completed within the last year.
• System access form completed and uploaded one week before start.
• Child and Adult Dependent Abuse Training (Iowa only).
• Iowa-specific criminal history, sex offender, and abuse registry checks within 30 days prior to start.

Additional Notes

• Resume, skills checklist (within one year), and two professional references required for submission.
• All certifications and licenses must be uploaded with clear images of front and back where applicable.
• Specialty exam and competency testing must be current within one year.
