Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Midland, Texas
Facility: Midland Memorial Hospital
Hospital System: Los Angeles WFD 2024
Contract Length: 16 weeks (minimum 13 weeks considered)
End Date Requested: January 10
Job Description
- Rotate through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, transition (no post-partum)
- Must work one holiday (eve and day)
- Required Skills/Certifications: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), BLS, ACLS, NRP
Required Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER, Interventional Radiology, Pediatrics, PACU, Allied
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, NICU
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for ER
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Preferred for Labor & Delivery (Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN)
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for all clinical positions (not required for Allied)
- Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology, Age-Specific, and general competency exams required within 1 year of start
- Tech Certification Verification: Required for applicable Allied roles (e.g., Cath Lab Tech, Radiology Tech, etc.)
- State License Verification: Required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start for RN, LPN/LVN, AP
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Confidentiality and Security Agreement (must review/sign prior to start)
- Drug Screening and Blood Testing Consent (onsite drug screen during orientation)
- TB Questionnaire (required regardless of TB status)
- Compliance Checklist (to be signed by candidate and agency)
- Certification by Cost Center (for QM review)
Health Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- N95 Fit Test (no PAPR accepted) within 1 year of start
- Immunizations/Vaccinations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 12 months)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines required)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or series)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; additional onsite drug screen upon arrival
- Flu Vaccination or Agency Declination (required October 1 - March 31)
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Preferred but not required
Background and History Checks
- Lifetime Criminal Background Check within 30 days of start (must include SSN trace, state, county, aliases)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- 2 References within 3 years of start
- Employment Application/Resume required
- Skills Checklist (update annually)
- Transcript/Diploma and Education Verification required for Cath Lab, CVOR, and Labor & Delivery RNs
- Texas-specific background checks (DPS Criminal History, Employee Misconduct Registry, Employability Status Check) required within 30 days prior to start
Additional Notes
- Must meet all facility and system credentialing and compliance requirements prior to start
- Holiday work required (one holiday shift including evening and day)
- Rotation includes multiple areas but excludes post-partum care
