Job Opportunity: Travel RN Medical/Surgical
Location: Evansville, Indiana
Facility: INEVA St Vincent Evansville (Ascension Health)
Unit: Renal/Diabetic Unit
Beds: 23
Patient Ratio: 1:6-8
Schedule: Weekend Blocked Schedule
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Key Requirements & Credentials
Licenses & Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified.
- Nursys Verification: Within 30 days prior to start. Complete FACIS Questionnaire if any disciplinary actions.
- License/Certificate Verification: Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start. FACIS Questionnaire required if disciplinary actions exist.
- Driver's License/State ID: Must be valid, not expired, and address must match records.
Exams & Testing
- Ascension Pharmacology Exam: Required before start; minimum 80% score; updated every 3 years.
- Ascension Medical Surgical Exam: Required before start; minimum 80% score; updated every 3 years.
- Ascension Color Vision Test: Required before start; updated every 3 years.
- Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% score.
- Ascension EKG Exam: New edition as of Dec 1, 2023; minimum 80% score; two attempts allowed.
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist; completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start; updated annually; includes testing for 12 drug categories.
Onboarding & Professional Requirements
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite prior to start.
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: 6 hours pre-hire education with attestation required.
- Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations.
- Ascension Profile (Resume): Required for submission.
- Ascension 2 Professional References: At least two professional references required prior to first assignment.
- Ascension Criminal Background Check: Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender; completed within 30 days of first assignment and updated annually.
- Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) Check: Run within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
- Ascension Education Verification: Verification of relevant education within 90 days of start; updated if break in service > 90 days.
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updated with each extension.
- Ascension Employment Verification: Third-party verification for past 7 years; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days.
Health & Immunizations
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional; flu season Oct 1 - Mar 31; exemptions accepted but mask required if declined.
- Positive PPD / Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire: Must provide positive IGRA or PPD results, chest x-ray within one year, and completed TB questionnaire; updated annually.
- 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Required within 1 year and 30 days of start.
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
Additional Information
- Patient ratio is approximately 1 nurse to 6-8 patients.
- The unit is a Renal/Diabetic specialty with 23 beds.
- This is a travel nursing position with a weekend blocked schedule.
- Completion of various Ascension-specific exams and checklists is mandatory prior to start and periodically thereafter.
- Compliance with all immunization and health screening requirements is strictly enforced.
- Background checks, education, and employment verifications are required and must be current.
This position is ideal for RNs with Medical/Surgical experience who meet Ascension Health’s credentialing and compliance standards and are interested in a travel assignment in Indiana.
