MRI Technologist - Radiology / Cardiology
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Facility: Ohio State University Hospital (Outside In Hospital System)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

- Days: Monday to Friday, every third weekend
- Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Job Overview
Seeking a skilled MRI Technologist with expertise in neuro, abdominal, and musculoskeletal imaging. The role primarily supports weekend night shifts and involves imaging for both inpatient and outpatient settings, with a focus on oncology cases.
Department Information
- Average Daily Census: 35–40 cases/day
- Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Electronic Documentation System: EPIC
Required Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of MRI experience
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Valid Ohio State License
Required Skills
- Experience in Adult ICU, Adult Outpatient, and Pediatric Acute Care settings
- Proficiency in imaging the following areas:
- Abdominal
- Female & Male Pelvis
- Chest
- Brain
- Face/Neck
- Hip/Bony Pelvis
- Knee
- Shoulder
- Familiarity with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and Siemens MRI equipment
Special Imaging Procedures
- Fusion (non-brain)
- Gradient Echo Imaging
- Image Post-Processing (ADC mapping, subtraction)
- Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP)
- Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR)
- Perfusion
- Spectroscopy
- Spin Echo Images
- Surface Coils
- T1 & T2 Weighted Imaging
- Spine Imaging: Cervical, Lumbar, Thoracic
Required Certifications & Compliance
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for ER and related units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required for Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, and OB units
- Annual completion of Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- State License verification within 30 days of start
- National Tech Certification verification within 30 days of start
- Unit-specific competency exams including medication and dysrhythmia/EKG competency for applicable roles
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Proof of fingerprinting completion (BCI/FBI) required for all candidates
- Background check: 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required
Additional Compliance
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
- Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism form required
- Annual review and acknowledgment of ethics and compliance policies
References & Documentation
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Education accreditation confirmation required for nursing candidates
- Transcripts/diplomas required for Respiratory Therapists (if applicable)
