Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (Travel)
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Facility: WIMIL CSM Milwaukee Hospital (Ascension Health)
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Must have a Wisconsin Respiratory Therapist license prior to submission.
- Current critical care experience required, or experience within the last 12 months.
- Ability to manage a heavy workload.
- May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed.
- Work schedule includes every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH).
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Must be AHA certified.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Must be AHA certified.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Must be AHA certified.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Must be AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics certified.
- Current Respiratory Therapist License with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Driver’s License/State ID – Must be valid and match address requirements.
Onboarding & Competency Requirements
- Completion of Ascension Respiratory Therapy Contract Worker Onboarding (including a 6-hour pre-hire education attestation).
- Ascension Core Competencies – HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year and updated yearly.
- Ascension Specialty Exam – Completed prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years.
- Ascension Skills Checklist – Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Forward-facing badge photo with white or blue background (no filters or alterations).
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Fit Test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be completed onsite).
- Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- Positive IGRA or PPD test results with negative chest X-ray within one year, plus annual TB questionnaire.
- Documented proof of Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
Professional Verification & Background Checks
- Submission of resume/profile prior to assignment.
- At least two professional references completed before first assignment.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and other checks within 30 days of assignment start; updated annually or after breaks in service.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; diplomas not accepted.
- Employment verification for the past seven years; updated annually or after breaks in service.
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and each extension.
Additional Notes
- The Respiratory Therapy Contract Worker Form is completed onsite by the facility.
- Some health and competency requirements must be updated annually or every 3 years depending on the credential.
- Floating to other sites within 40 miles may be required based on facility needs.
This position is ideal for respiratory therapists with recent critical care experience who hold the necessary Wisconsin license and certifications, and who are comfortable with travel assignments and flexible site locations within the Milwaukee area.
