Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Home Health
Location: Ketchikan, Alaska
Facility: PeaceHealth Wilson Building (PeaceHealth Old system)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Physical Therapy)
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (start time flexible)
- Schedule: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day
- On-Call: None required
- Weekend Work: Not required
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Start Date: ASAP (allow 4 weeks for compliance)
- Work Setting: Community-based, patient’s home with office on campus
- Average Daily Census: 26 patients
- Vehicle: Reliable vehicle required
Job Description
- Evaluate patients and develop treatment plans and goals within the scope of physical therapy.
- Provide treatment and modify plans as needed based on patient progress.
- Document patient care accurately and timely, meeting regulatory and licensure standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
- May supervise therapy assistants, aides, volunteers, and provide clinical instruction to students.
- Participate in quality improvement, new service development, staff meetings, and educational activities.
- May float to hospice care if needed (within scope).
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program (or foreign equivalent).
- Licensure:
- Valid Alaska Physical Therapist License required before start.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of Home Health or Orthopedic/Aging Adult experience.
- Epic electronic health record experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Independent clinical judgment and patient assessment skills.
- First-Timers:
- Accepted if OASIS (Outcome and Assessment Information Set) experience is present.
Common Patient Diagnoses and Procedures
- COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
- CHF (Congestive Heart Failure)
- Orthopedic procedures including joint replacements
- Neurological diseases
Additional Requirements and Compliance
- Must complete PeaceHealth orientation modules and pass related exams with 100%.
- Required health documents include:
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Fit mask test (if onsite)
- Immunizations or declinations for Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu and COVID-19 vaccination documentation or approved exemptions
- Background check within 60 days of start (7-year search including SSN trace and criminal checks).
- Social Security verification required.
- Must sign various facility-specific compliance and disclosure forms prior to start.
Notes
- Floating to sister facilities is not required.
- Block scheduling (Monday-Friday) is accommodated.
- Locals are not accepted for this travel position.
- No return-to-office restrictions.
