Description

Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel Position

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide pulmonary care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under physician direction with minimal supervision. Perform patient assessments and implement respiratory care plans. Conduct various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the hospital.


Work Schedule

  • Nights: 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM
  • Every other weekend (rotating)
  • Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergencies (Code Blue and White)
  • Airway management including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning
  • Delivery of aerosolized medications
  • Ventilator management (setup and operation) using Hamilton ventilators
  • Oral hygiene and airway device placement/maintenance
  • Manage airway support devices including BiPAP and CPAP
  • Oxygen delivery and therapeutic monitoring
  • Chest film analysis
  • Blood gas collection and analysis
  • EKG analysis
  • Accurate and complete documentation
  • Cleaning and stocking equipment and supplies
  • Participate in CAP and JC surveys
  • May serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader

Advanced skills may include:

  • Therapeutic gas management (INO, HeO2)
  • Pulmonary Function Testing
  • Bronchoscopy assistance
  • Hemodynamic monitoring and waveform analysis
  • Nocturnal SpO2 evaluation (Desaturation Studies)
  • Polysomnography
  • Patient transport duties

Requirements

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by NBRC required
  • RT or RCP license valid in Texas
  • BLS certification (AHA only)
  • 1 to 3 years of experience preferred
  • Must have EPIC experience

Additional Information

  • Facility uses Hamilton ventilators
  • Must meet applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies (Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders)
