Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position involves floating to Latrobe as needed.
• Assignments will be on Adult and Adolescent Behavioral Health units.
• Must have an active nursing license in hand.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• State Nursing License: Must be current and verifiable.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): From American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• BLS (Basic Life Support): Preferably from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Preferred, from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIH Stroke Certification: Must be updated annually.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for ER & Behavioral Health units.

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score).
• General Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score).

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Completion of orientation checklist, pandemic attestation, code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, disclosure statement, and other facility-specific documents prior to start.
• Signed job description required.
• Facility will provide first week’s schedule and direct contact within 48 hours of start date.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if past positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year.
• Annual TB questionnaire for past positive TB.
• Immunizations or positive titers within 10 years for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
• Hepatitis B vaccine series, positive titer within 10 years, or signed declination.
• Negative 15-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1); declinations accepted.

Background & Screening

• Background check within 30 days of start, including SS trace, county searches (last 7 years), nationwide sex offender, and PA statewide checks.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start.
• HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
• Two professional references required (within 3 years).
• Annual skills checklist.
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting required with specific procedures for submission and follow-up.

Additional Notes

• Must have government-issued photo ID.
• Emergency contact form required prior to start.
• Drug screen and physical exam do not require annual updates once on assignment.
• Religious and medical COVID exemptions must be properly documented and signed.

This position is ideal for RNs experienced in behavioral health settings who are flexible with floating assignments and meet all licensing and certification requirements.
