Description
Job Opportunity: RN CVICU - Travel Nurse
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Facility: ININD St Vincent Indpls Acute (Ascension Health)
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Role Description
- Cardiac medical and surgical unit
- Responsible for safely caring for 2 ICU patients simultaneously
- Manage cardiac devices
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- Current nursing license with primary source verification (Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start)
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and meet compact license address requirements)
Required Health & Immunization Documentation
- Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Varicella immunity documentation or two doses of vaccine (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years, no declinations accepted)
- Influenza vaccine recommended for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit Test for respiratory protection (required for all travelers)
- Health statement or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days of start
Required Background & Screening
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (completed within 30 days of first assignment, updated annually)
- Employment verification for the past 7 years
- Drug screen: 12 panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start
- Professional references: at least two qualifying references prior to first assignment
Required Exams & Competency Checklists
- Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, updated yearly)
- Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80%, updated as per latest edition)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, completed within 1 year of start, updated annually)
- Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
Onboarding Requirements
- Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters)
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (completed pre-hire)
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite prior to start)
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation on agency letterhead
Notes
- Flu vaccine exemptions accepted but require mask wearing during flu season
- Some credentials and verifications must be updated annually or with any break in service over 90 days
- All exams allow only two attempts to pass with required minimum scores
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs comfortable managing complex cardiac patients and devices in a fast-paced ICU setting within a reputable health system.
