Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Belleville, Illinois

Job Details

  • Shift: Nights
  • Start Date: Biweekly starts, 3-4 weeks per compliance tier
  • Patient Ratios: 1:3
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: May float within scope between Belleville and East locations, as well as inpatient floors if needed
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: 7 days within 13-week contract
  • Guaranteed Hours:
    • 36 hours/week for 3-12 hour shifts
    • 48 hours/week for 4-12 hour shifts

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only; quarterly renewal required if using PALS RQI
  • NIH Stroke Certification (annual update required)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) if applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – preferred
  • RQI cards are not acceptable
  • Additional preferred certifications: CPI, TNCC

Special Skills / Clinical Requirements

  • Insertion of central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes
  • Post cardiac arrest hypothermia care
  • Intubations
  • Participation in code strokes, code STEMI, code blue teams
  • Trauma patient care
  • Pediatric patient care and transfers
  • Sexual assault cases
  • Mental health patient boarding until placement

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Primary Source Verification of Professional License (Illinois permanent license required; no pending licenses)
  • NURSYS Verification (for Missouri licenses and others as applicable)
  • Background Check (within 6 months, 7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (quarterly)
  • Employment Application
  • Education Verification (highest related education)
  • Skills Checklist (unit-specific, within 1 year)
  • Physical Exam (within 1 year)
  • Drug Testing (within 1 year, must include specific panels)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tdap (or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer, vaccines, or declination)
    • Hepatitis B declination form required (vaccination not mandatory)
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
  • Fit Mask Testing (annual, must pass fit test for N95 respirators)
  • Facility-specific documents including:
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
    • Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
    • Confidentiality Form (annual)
    • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual, must score 80% or higher)
    • Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
    • Fingernail Policy acknowledgment
    • Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
  • Fingerprinting (Illinois assignments to long-term care or rehab units only)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must adhere to all facility policies and complete required training prior to start.
  • Floating may be required within the facility system to meet patient care needs.
  • Candidates must be prepared to work every other weekend and meet the required shift hours.
  • This is a travel/contract position; local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with a strong focus on emergency and trauma nursing. The role requires advanced certifications and experience in critical care interventions and emergency procedures.
