Job Description
- Background in Critical Care / Cardiac Critical Care required
- Experience with open heart recovery and post-cardiac procedure recovery
Required Credentials and Compliance
Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly for Group A, every 2 years for Groups B-F)
Licenses
- Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and match address requirements)
Vaccinations and Health Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted
- TB Testing: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred before start, updated annually
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Drug Screening
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually or if break in service > 90 days
(Includes Amphetamines, Cocaine, Marijuana, PCP, Methamphetamine, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Buprenorphine, Methadone, Oxycodone, Morphine, Ecstasy)
Background and Verification
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days prior to start, updated annually or if break in service > 90 days
- Employment Verification for past 7 years, updated annually or if break in service > 90 days
- Education Verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start
- Professional References: At least two qualifying references prior to first assignment
Exams and Competency Checklists
- Ascension Pharmacology Exam: Minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years
- Ascension Specialty Exam: Minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years
- Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly
- Ascension EKG Exam: Minimum 80% score, updated as per latest edition
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start, updated annually
- Ascension Color Vision Test: Completed prior to start, updated every 3 years
Additional Requirements
- Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background (no alterations or filters)
- Resume/Profile submission required
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding prior to or at start
- Post-assignment evaluations and exit surveys may be required
This position requires a highly qualified critical care nurse with specialized cardiac ICU experience and full compliance with extensive credentialing, vaccination, and competency requirements.
