Job Opportunity: RN ICU - Travel Position

Location: Waco, Texas

Job Description

  • Minimum of 3 years ICU experience required.
  • Work in a conglomerate ICU unit covering medical, surgical, and cardiovascular patients.
  • Must be able to float between critical care service lines, including ICU and step-down units.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • Current RN license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Driver’s License/State ID (valid, must match address requirements)

Required Exams & Competencies

  • Ascension Specialty Exam (passing score minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
  • NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (passing score minimum 80%, updated as per latest edition)
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out (training and test results required)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, completed within 1 year of start, updated annually)
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted but mask required at all times
  • Fit Test: Annual fit test for N95 respirators required (preferred prior to start, can be done onsite)
  • Positive PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire (upload required)
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes prior to start
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Professional & Background Requirements

  • Resume/Profile submission required
  • At least two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and other checks within 30 days prior to start; updated annually
  • EPLS check within 90 days prior to start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
  • Education Verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start; updated if break in service > 90 days
  • Employment Verification for past 7 years; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days
  • Confirmation of Assignment documentation upon initial assignment and each extension

Onboarding Requirements

  • Completion of Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite)
  • Completion of Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
  • Completion of Ascension Nova StatStrip training prior to clearance
  • Optional: Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (uploaded by unit leader within a week)

Additional Information

  • Flu season mask policy applies from October 1 through March 31 each year; exemptions accepted but mask required.
  • Must comply with all credentialing, testing, and health requirements prior to start.
  • Floating between ICU and step-down units is required.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU nurses comfortable working in a dynamic critical care environment with multiple specialties and flexible floating assignments.
