Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: December 8 (Non-negotiable)
- Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Floating: May be required to float between units or facilities within a 35-mile radius based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity. Notification will be given before scheduled shifts if floating is required.
Required Credentials and Compliance
Licenses & Certifications
- Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- NIH Certification (Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years)
Health & Immunizations
- Influenza vaccine or exemption/declination (flu season Oct 1 - Mar 31; mask required if exempt)
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred before start, can be done onsite (annual update required)
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Recent testing required with annual TB questionnaire
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Testing & Exams
- Ascension Medical Surgical Exam: Minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts, updated every 3 years
- Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly
- Ascension EKG Exam: Minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts, updated as per latest edition
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation required
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist, completed within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually; includes 12 specified drugs with MRO review if applicable
Professional Requirements
- Resume/Profile submission required
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment
- Criminal background check including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender registry, and others within 30 days of assignment; updated annually or after break in service >90 days
- EPLS check within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service >90 days
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service >90 days
- Employment verification for past 7 years; updated annually or after break in service >90 days
- Confirmation of assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and each extension
- Driver’s license or state ID (must be current, match address on file, and show front/back)
- Badge photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations or filters
Onboarding Requirements
- Completion of Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite)
- Completion of Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)
- Completion of Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules for non-allied positions
- Ascension Color Vision test prior to start, updated every 3 years
Additional Notes
- Floating assignments are based on staffing needs and will be communicated in advance.
- Some optional documents and evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for onboarding.
- Flu season mask policy applies if vaccine is declined.
This position requires thorough compliance with Ascension Health’s credentialing, testing, and onboarding standards to ensure patient safety and quality care.
