Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: December 15 (Non-negotiable)
- Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Floating: May be required to float between units or facilities within a 35-mile radius based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity. Notification will be given before the scheduled shift if floating is required.
Required Credentials & Compliance
Licenses & Certifications
- Current nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- NIH Certification (Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years)
Exams & Testing
- Ascension Medical Surgical Exam: Minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts, updated every 3 years
- Ascension EKG Exam: Minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts, updated as per latest edition
- Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist, completed within one year of start and updated annually
Health & Immunizations
- Influenza Vaccine (seasonal requirement; exemptions accepted with mask mandate)
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be completed onsite
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Required with specific timing; TB questionnaire updated annually
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and updated annually
Professional Requirements
- Ascension Resume/Profile
- Two professional references prior to first assignment
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days
- EPLS check within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Education Verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Employment Verification for past 7 years; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation upon initial assignment and each extension
- Driver’s License/State ID: Must be current, match address on file, and show front/back
Onboarding Requirements
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules (required for non-allied positions)
- Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations or filters
Additional Notes
- Floating assignments are based on staffing needs and will be communicated in advance.
- Flu season mask requirement applies if vaccine exemption/declination is submitted.
- Some optional documents may be requested by unit leaders during onboarding.
This position is ideal for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs who meet the credentialing and compliance requirements and are comfortable with floating assignments within a regional area.
