Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)

Start Date: December 15 (Non-negotiable)
Shift: 36 or 48 hours per week

Key Requirements and Credentials

Licenses & Certifications

• Current Nursing License: Must have primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Nursys Verification: Required within 30 days prior to start.
• BLS Certification: Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified.
• NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.

Health & Immunizations

• MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer required. No declinations accepted. If negative, two doses four weeks apart required.
• Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider. No declinations accepted. If negative, two doses four weeks apart required.
• Tdap: Valid within 10 years. No declinations accepted.
• Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31). Exemptions accepted but mask required at all times.
• Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred before start; can be completed onsite. Annual update required.
• 2 Step PPD or IGRA: Required with specific timing before start; annual TB questionnaire required. Positive TB requires chest X-ray within 1 year.
• Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
• 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start; updated annually. Includes testing for 12 specified substances.

Testing & Competencies

• Ascension Medical Surgical Exam: Must be completed prior to start; minimum 80% score; max 2 attempts.
• Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% score; max 2 attempts.
• Ascension EKG Exam: New edition as of Dec 1, 2023; passing score of 80% required; max 2 attempts.
• Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation required.
• Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist to be completed within one year of start; updated annually.
• Ascension Color Vision Test: Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.

Professional Documentation

• Resume/Profile: Required for submission.
• Two Professional References: Required prior to first assignment.
• Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; completed within 30 days of first assignment; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days.
• Employment Verification: Past 7 years; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days.
• Education Verification: Relevant to clinical work; completed within 90 days of start; updated if break in service > 90 days.
• Driver’s License/State ID: Must be current, match address on file, and show front/back.
• Onboarding Requirements: Includes Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite), Education Attestation, Nova StatStrip modules, and Confirmation of Assignment documentation.

Additional Notes

• Flu season mask policy applies to those with vaccine exemptions or declinations.
• Some optional documents include Positive PPD with negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire, Ascension Unit Specific Checklist, and Hiring Manager Evaluation.
• All required exams and certifications have strict passing criteria and limited attempts.
• Documentation must be current and compliant with Ascension Health policies.
