Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Facility: Hospital in Greensboro, NC (Travel/Contract)
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
  • Every other week (EOW) schedule
  • Requires working one holiday and one holiday eve during the holiday period
  • No call required

Experience & Skills Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience required
  • No first-time travelers accepted
  • Orthopedic and trauma experience required
  • Specialize in pre-op and post-op orthopedic care
  • Experience with elective and trauma patients
  • Use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:6 (possible stretch to 1:7)
  • EPIC electronic health record system experience required
  • Experience with total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs, and orthopedic trauma
  • Familiarity with safe patient handling equipment and orthopedic devices such as CPM, knee immobilizer, bone foam, etc.

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
  • Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification for certain units)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
  • State nursing license verification required (North Carolina)
  • NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Social Security Card for badge issuance
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification by a 3rd party (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as applicable
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity or vaccination proof
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination proof
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
    • COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted
  • Fit mask test completed within current calendar year and updated annually
  • Facility-specific documents including health history form, dress code review, floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgement, and badge photo meeting strict requirements
  • Pass/Fail testing for EPIC and Dysrhythmia/EKG exams (2 attempts allowed)

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Compliance deadline is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date
  • References: 2 supervisory references required from recent assignments (within 12 and 24 months)
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history required
  • Annual skills checklist required with a one-week grace period for renewal
  • Work history verification for last 5 years required through a third-party vendor
  • Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)

This position is ideal for experienced orthopedic trauma RNs comfortable with night shifts and holiday coverage, who have EPIC experience and meet strict compliance and certification requirements.
