Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- May be asked to float to other campus or floors; flexibility required
- Must live within 150 miles of the facility
- 3 years of experience preferred, but first-time travelers accepted
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- STABLE (post-resuscitation care for newborns)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as applicable
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for Telemetry RNs
- Tech Cert Verification - National (within 30 days of start)
- State License Verification (within 30 days of start)
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) (within 30 days of start)
Experience & Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara test accepted)
Background Checks & Compliance
- 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; update annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
- Education Verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma
- Texas-specific checks:
- DADS Employability Status Check within 30 days of start
- Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing for Telemetry RNs
- Authorization for Background Check and other facility-specific acknowledgments required prior to start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Fit Mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (PPD or Quantiferon/Tspot) within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if titer negative/equivocal
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility conducts additional drug screen on arrival
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); religious or medical exemptions accepted

- Traveler Identification Form (must be completed prior to start)
- Facility-specific orientation modules (~3-4 hours) required
- Parking available for orientation and employment with no fee
References & Documentation
- 2 references required within 3 years of start
- Copy of resume/application required
- Skills checklist required and updated annually
