Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Emergency Room nurse working night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday shifts required

Required Credentials & Certifications

Licenses & Verification

  • Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Driver’s License/State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements)

Certifications (must be AHA approved where specified)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIH Certification (updated yearly for Group A, every 2 years for Groups B-F)
  • Ascension CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, 8-hour course, updated every 2 years)

Health & Immunizations

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Fit Test: Required annually; preferred before start, can be completed onsite (PAPR not done onsite)
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Required with specific timing before start; TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually; includes 12 specified drugs

Onboarding & Testing Requirements

  • Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within 1 year, updated yearly; minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts
  • Ascension EKG Exam: Passing score of at least 80%, max 2 attempts; updated edition as of Dec 1, 2023
  • Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist, completed within 1 year of start, updated annually for specialty
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: Completion of 6-hour pre-hire training with attestation
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules for non-allied positions, completed prior to clearance
  • Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations or filters

Professional Documentation

  • Resume/Profile required for submission
  • At least two professional references required prior to first assignment
  • Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
  • Education Verification: Relevant to clinical work, completed within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
  • Employment Verification: Past 7 years, third-party verification required; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days
  • Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updates with extensions

Additional Notes

  • Some optional documents include unit-specific checklists and post-assignment evaluations
  • FACIS Questionnaire required if any disciplinary actions exist
  • All required documents must be uploaded and verified according to timelines specified

This position requires a highly qualified RN with emergency room experience, night shift availability, and compliance with extensive credentialing and health requirements.
