Job Details

• Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs and float between like units

• Locals: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
• Pending License: Not accepted
• Return to Work Restrictions: Per manager's discretion
• Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; after that, all contracted shifts are guaranteed
• Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
• Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning

Certifications & Competencies Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required (AHA or Military)
• BLS (Basic Life Support): Required (AHA or Military)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for certain units (ED, OR, Peds ED, PICU)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, FCCU, NICU units
• NIH Stroke Certification: Required for ED, Psych ED, ICUs, Step Down, Med Surg, L&D, Express Care; must be updated annually
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for awareness on multiple units; candidates have 3 attempts to pass with remediation required after failures
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required and must be renewed annually; advanced and basic levels depending on unit assignment

Background & Health Requirements

• Background Check: Must be within 6 months of start; includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable
• Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcript acceptable if verification unavailable
• Physical Exam: Required within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations & Titers:

  • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within last 10 years (no declinations accepted after 2/22/2021)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted after 2/22/2021)
  • Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted after 2/22/2021)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
• TB Screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; annual renewal required
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (specific substances listed)
• Flu Vaccine: Required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility-specific forms; documentation required for 2025-26 season
• COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but documentation accepted

• Orientation: Plan to be in orientation for most of the first day (Monday)
• Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year before returning as a traveler

This position is ideal for experienced MS/Telemetry RNs who meet the certification and health requirements and are comfortable with floating and weekend shifts in a Level III Trauma Center environment.
