Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Temporary Position

Location: West Branch, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Perform a variety of technical procedures using independent judgment and initiative.
• Operate Nuclear Medicine instrumentation including gamma cameras (planar and SPECT), PET, radiation detectors/counters, dose calibrators.
• Conduct quality control of all equipment.
• Apply Radiation Safety Practices including patient and occupational exposure monitoring, dosimetry, and ALARA techniques (time, distance, shielding).
• Follow Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidelines for handling, administering, and transporting radioactive materials.
• Prepare, measure, administer, and perform quality control of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Key Responsibilities (each approx. 20% of duties):

• Inject and administer radiopharmaceuticals; assay activities; calculate volumes and activity concentrations; enter records in dose tracking system; perform lab procedures related to radiopharmaceutical kits and unit doses.
• Understand and follow Nuclear Medicine protocols and procedures; position patients; monitor patients during procedures; knowledge of acquisition parameters.
• Perform intravenous (IV) access starting using aseptic techniques and appropriate site selection.
• Operate all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation devices and perform required quality control.
• Apply radiation safety regulations and procedures diligently.

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience (required).
• ARRT (N) or CNMT certification (required).
• BLS (AHA) certification (required).
• Knowledge of Radiology Information System (RIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) preferred.
• Must submit all scheduling requests at time of application (no scheduling changes after offer).
• Provide work history, skills checklist (updated within 1 year), and 2 supervisory reference forms (within last 2 years).
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates not considered).
