Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab RN) - Amarillo, Texas

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3x12 hour days
  • Call Requirement: Weeknights 7pm-7am, Weekends 7am-7pm
  • Travel Radius: No local candidates; must be willing to travel within 50 miles
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years nursing experience
  • Epic Experience: Required within the last 6 months
  • Travel Experience: Preferred
  • Holiday Requirement: Willing to work 2 out of 3 holidays if needed

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable (expires annually)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
  • State License Verification (Primary source online verification required)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)

Required Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online acceptable)
  • Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
  • Core Parts I, II, III (for subcontractors; annual completion required)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)

Background and Verification Requirements

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start (updated annually)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
  • HHS/OIG check upon hire
  • Education verification (highest level of education)
  • Transcript/Diploma may be accepted as placeholder if education verification is delayed
  • Fingerprinting (time sensitive; required for New Mexico placements only)
  • Work history verification for 7 years
  • Employment application/resume required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; additional requirements if positive
  • TB questionnaire within 90 days of start (annual if positive)
  • Measles (Rubeola) immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Mumps immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Rubella immunity: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters accepted if negative/equivocal
  • Varicella immunity: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, etc.)
  • Onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed; failure results in cancellation)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination (dose 1 and fully vaccinated) or approved medical/religious exemption required; declinations not accepted

  • Clear headshot photo required for badge
  • Internal attestations and documentation required for I9, driver's license/state ID, and E-Verify
  • Religious/medical exemptions for vaccines require facility review and approval
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements
