Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Facility: Wesley Long Community Hospital (Cone Health MSP)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Schedule: Rotating weekends and holidays
- Float: Required; all travelers may float between all Cone Health campuses
- Experience: Minimum 2 years required; no first-time travelers
- Patient Population:
- Oncology patients (newly diagnosed through end of life)
- Sickle cell patients in acute pain crises
- MedSurg patients with conditions such as diabetes management, COPD, asthma, cellulitis, pneumonia, abdominal pain, foley management, etc.
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:4-6
Required Skills & Experience
- BLS certification
- EPIC experience
- PCA pump experience
- Telemetry interpretation and monitoring
- Medical-Surgical Oncology experience required
- Chemo certification not required (do not administer chemo)
Certifications & Exams
- Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs (must score 82% or higher; 2 attempts allowed)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Other certifications may be required based on specialty/unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification)
- EPIC test required for RNs and allied candidates (2 attempts allowed; 80% passing score)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (time sensitive, must be on file within 24 hours of qualification)
Licensure & Verification
- North Carolina RN license with primary source verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
- Education verification required (Associate's degree in nursing or higher)
- Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education obtained outside the U.S.
- Work history verification for the last 5 years required
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
Compliance & Background Checks
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Social Security card required for badge issuance
- Background check within 60 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- No open hits on background check allowed
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Candidate must complete and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment forms
- Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Health history form and affiliate packet must be completed and uploaded prior to clearance
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period to update; failure to renew results in removal from floor
