Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist (OT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Silver Spring, Maryland
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 5 shifts of 8 hours each (5x8s)
- Work Days: Monday through Friday
- Visits: 6 visits per day
- Patient Population: Adult Health Care required
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Local Candidates: Accepted within local radius
- On-call: Not required
- Block Schedule Accommodation: Yes
Licensure & Certifications
- State License: Maryland OT license required
- BLS: Required (AHA only)
- Additional Certifications:
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable (depending on unit)
- Must have current certifications that do not expire within 30 days of start
- Fingerprinting: Maryland CJIS/DSS/FBI fingerprinting required for behavioral health units; must be completed in Maryland with results prior to start
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Transcript/Diploma or third-party education verification required
- NURSYS Verification: Required for RNs (if applicable)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit Mask Testing: Must be fit tested within 12 months prior to start; no religious or medical exemptions accepted without facility-approved accommodation
- Immunizations & Screenings:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step TST with clear chest X-ray if history positive
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters accepted pending low titer
- Hepatitis B: Positive quantitative titer within 5 years required; declinations not accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters accepted pending low titer
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Mandatory for 2025-26 season with no declination except approved religious/medical exemptions
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Full vaccination required; no exemptions accepted
- Drug Testing: 11-panel drug screen including cotinine/nicotine and marijuana within 30 days of start; failure results in cancellation
- Eye Exam: Visual acuity screening within 6 months of start, repeated annually; minimum corrected vision 20/40
- Color Blind Exam: Required within 5 years of start
Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during work hours
- Residency Declaration Form if working on a compact license
- Signed acknowledgment of smoke/nicotine-free campus policy (no nicotine/cotinine allowed)
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Completed employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
- Radiation badge and prior radiation exposure attestation if working in radiology-related areas (if applicable)
Facility Specific Notes
- Smoke/nicotine free campus with strict no exceptions
- Behavioral health units require additional fingerprinting and CPS background checks
- Fit test medical or religious exemptions require facility-approved forms and may lead to PAPR training if approved
- Fingerprint appointments must be scheduled at least 5 business days prior to start date for timely results
- Failure to comply with immunization, drug testing, or documentation requirements will result in cancellation or termination
This position offers a structured Monday-Friday schedule with guaranteed 40 hours per week, suitable for OTs with at least 2 years of experience and Maryland licensure. First-time travelers are welcome. Compliance with all health, safety, and background requirements is mandatory.
