Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Macon, Georgia
Facility: Piedmont Macon Medical Center

Job Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 20 weeks
• Unit Details:

  • Weekend: Included in call requirements only
  • Call: 20 days in a 6-week schedule, including a minimum of 2 weekends
  • Floating: Within facility/scope of practice, including Main OR and Piedmont Macon North Hospital as needed
• Minimum Experience: 2 years (first-time travelers accepted)
• Holidays:

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
• Major Holidays Include:
  Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
• RTO (Return to Office): Maximum 7 days
• Orientation: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Locals Accepted: Yes, at the same rate

Required Credentials & Compliance

Background Checks & Verifications

• Background check required within 30 days of start (must include county, national sex offender, nationwide criminal search, FACIS 3, education verification)
• Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
• Transcript/Diploma required for Respiratory Therapists (RRTs)
• Work history verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is running (due within 30 days post start)
• Two clinical references required

Licenses & Certifications

• State License verification within 30 days prior to start (Georgia license required for CRTs & RRTs)
• Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
• Required Certifications (depending on specialty):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for many specialties including ER, PACU, Critical Care, Labor & Delivery, etc.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required except for Microbiology Techs and Med Techs
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for RN’s in PACU, ER, and other pediatric-accepting areas
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for applicable specialties
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Online course required within a few months of hire; no re-certification required
  • STABLE: Required for NICU
  • NIH Stroke Certification: May be required depending on specialty
  • Tech Cert Verification - National: Allied annual license verification if applicable
• Facility-specific documents such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start

Competency Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs and LVNs by Aya only)
• Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed)
• Competency Exam (required for Nursing and Allied by Aya only)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, ICU, ER, and related units; max 3 attempts allowed)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical Exam: Required by Aya within 1 year of start
• Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months of start (PPD, QGold, or TSpot)
• TB Questionnaire: Required annually for all candidates
• Immunizations/Vaccines:

  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend past start if not eligible yet
  • Hepatitis B: Series, surface antibody titer, or signed declination required; stricter requirements for privileging specialties
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend past start if not eligible yet
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Preferred for privileging specialties; declination form available if not vaccinated
  • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Declination required annually (strongly encouraged during flu season)
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending; instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions

Additional Notes

• Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; non-compliance may delay start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
• Candidates with less than 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some documents accepted on file (e.g., background check, drug screen)
• Floating assignments may include work in Main OR and other hospital locations within the system as needed
