Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - Travel/Contract
Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Contract Length: 11 weeks
Position Overview
- Start Date: Must complete privileging process prior to start (approximately 3 months/120 days).
- Schedule: Day shifts.
- Call: 1 day per week and 1 weekend every ~4 weeks (subject to change).
- Weekend: Only required during call.
- Floating: Within facility/scope of practice and to Main OR as needed.
- Minimum Experience: 5 years preferred; 3 years considered (screening applies). First-time travelers accepted.
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days.
- Holidays: No holiday RTO accepted.
- Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule.
- Orientation: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 11 weeks = 11 hours).
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Experience: Cardiac, Vascular, Endovascular, Thoracic experience required.
- Certifications:
- CSFA, NBSTSA, or NCCSA certification required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for relevant specialties.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required except for some tech roles.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for certain RN specialties if applicable.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required if applicable.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Online course required within a few months of hire (no renewal required).
- State License (Georgia) verification required within 30 days prior to start.
- NURSYS verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) within 30 days prior to start.
- Tech Certification Verification (if applicable) within 30 days prior to start.
Compliance & Screening Requirements
- Privileging: Required for this position; involves a detailed compliance checklist and additional documentation.
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days of start; includes criminal, sex offender, education verification, and more. Cannot start with background pending.
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions. Cannot start with results pending.
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations & Health Documents:
- TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months of start; if positive, additional chest x-ray and documentation required.
- TB Questionnaire required annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters allowed to pend if not yet eligible.
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters allowed to pend if not yet eligible.
- Hepatitis B series, surface antibody titer, or signed declination required; additional compliance for privileging specialties.
- Flu vaccine or declination required annually during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31).
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended; declination form allowed for privileging specialties if no current record.
Competency Exams & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for RNs and LVNs (Aya requirement).
- Color Blind Testing required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed.
- Competency exam required for nursing and allied health (Aya requirement).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for specific units; up to 3 attempts allowed.
Additional Notes
- Clinical screening will be conducted to determine fit before final manager approval.
- Locals accepted at the same rate.
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance.
- Privileging candidates must complete additional compliance checklists and may be required to complete a respirator fit test during orientation.
This position is ideal for experienced surgical services professionals with the required certifications and willingness to complete a thorough privileging process prior to starting.
