Key Job Details

• Facility accepts pending Louisiana State License; typical turnaround ~7 days. License must be active before start.
• Position is in a hurricane-prone area. The 2025 hurricane season runs June 1 - Nov 30, but storms can occur outside this window.
• If assigned to an "Emergency Team" during a storm, you may be required to stay at the facility until the storm passes or be part of relief efforts.
• Shift: 4:45 PM - 5:15 AM (with 30 min lunch)
• Weekends: Every other weekend (8 weekend shifts per contract)
• Medication System: Pyxis
• Documentation System: ESO EHR
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NREMT-P (National Registry Paramedic)
  • Louisiana State License
• Preferred Certifications:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Unit accepts first-time travelers
• Shift options available and negotiable:

  • 4:45 AM - 5:51 PM
  • 4:45 PM - 5:15 AM
  • 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Important Requirements & Compliance

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Louisiana State License or Compact License required upon submission.
• Certifications must be current; renewals required if expiring within 30 days of start.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and sex offender search required.
• Education verification of highest level required if no state license.

Health & Safety

• Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health required.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; annual updates required.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required for certain units)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).

Facility-Specific Documents

• Color passport-style photo for badge (taken within last 6 months).
• Onsite fit testing for N95 masks available if needed; must be authorized.

Additional Compliance

• Skills checklist updated annually.
• Employment application/resume required with 7 years employment history and explanations for gaps.
• Color copy of valid Driver’s License or government photo ID required.

Work Environment Notes

• This position is in a hurricane-impacted region; readiness to respond to emergency situations during storms is mandatory.
• Candidates uncomfortable with hurricane season emergency assignments should not apply.
