Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital Preferred
Unit: S52 IMC (Intermediate Care)
Beds: 28
Patient Population:
- Medical-Surgical with varied diagnoses
- Thoracic Surgery (5-10 cases/week)
- Other cases: GI bleeds, pneumonia, liver failure, CHF exacerbations, Le Fort patients, AAA repair patients
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Schedule & Coverage
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts, day/night or night shifts
- Weekends included in rotation (every other weekend coverage)
- No on-call required
- Float required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Required Licenses & Certifications
- DC Registered Nurse License (pending license accepted at submission; must have license before start)
- BLS (AHA or ARC) required
- ACLS preferred
- BSN preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years specialty experience in relevant area
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
Skills Required
- Telemetry
- PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown nursing
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Starting IVs
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
Preferred Skills:
- MS/Telemetry experience
- IV insulin protocols
Patient Care & Environment
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- Medication system: Pyxis
- Charting system: Cerner
- COVID-19: Must be willing and able to care for COVID-19 patients
- Flu vaccine required
Facility & Work Environment Notes
- Total staffed beds: 402
- Scrubs: Any color allowed, no other hospital logos
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state searches
- E-Verify and I9 documentation required
- Drug screen within 90 days (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Flu vaccine (or approved exemption)
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended (declination requires mask use)
- Tdap within 10 years preferred
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframe
- MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B documentation or titers
- N95 fit test within 9 months and annually (client may complete onsite)
- Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) prior to start
- Medication and competency exams required (including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency with specific passing criteria)
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the last 3 years
Additional Notes
- Must provide proof of pending DC license at submission
- Must have DC license in hand prior to start date
- Float requirement within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- No on-call duties, but weekend rotation included
- Facility requires flu vaccination for all employees
- COVID-19 patient care required as part of assignment
