Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Temporary Position

Job Description

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
• Utilize evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
• Administer various rehabilitation procedures including manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices.
• Assess patient progress and communicate with supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly.
• Report treatment effectiveness and provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Collaborate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
• Contribute to discharge summaries and document all required information in the electronic documentation system.
• Accurately record treatment minutes per regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings or in-services.
• Assist supervising Physical Therapist in obtaining necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies.
• Supervise and support students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist.
• Adhere to APTA and state-required practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics.
• Maintain active state licensure as applicable.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience required.
• Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) settings required.
• Must hold a valid PTA license.
• New graduates are acceptable if they have completed Level II clinical experience (not just Level I observation).
• Missouri state license required; compact license allowed.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks.

Work Schedule & Additional Info

• 8-hour shifts, night shift (NBO).
• Overtime, holiday, and call-back pay at 1.25x.
